Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) Presidential candidate Dr. Henry Lartey has indicated the party’s resolve to file a writ of injunction on balloting of candidates by Monday.
“We will not sit down for us to be cheated” he stressed, adding “she[Charlotte Osei] brutally failed not to make us amend the anomalies in our nominations”
He noted “at one point I thought the NPP was giving the EC so much problems, I now understand why Peter Mac Manu and co were bashing the woman constantly.”
According to him, the grounds on which he was disqualified is a bad law and ought to be scrapped to suit the democratic dispensation.
The Chairperson of the EC, Charlotte Osei addressing the media at the close of filing nominations on Monday said, “The Commission is unable to accept Dr. Lartey’s nomination because the number of subscribers to his forms did not meet the requirements of Regulation 7 (2) (b) of CI 94. The details are as follows:
Pages 18 – 22 do not contain the signatures of subscribers as required by Law
Pages 14 – 17: Subscriptions are undated
The Personal records of the Vice Presidential candidate have not been provided.
One subscriber – Amadu Babia Latifah. With Voter ID number 3357006984 & Polling station K100401 (page 110) also supported the nomination of another candidate. This disqualifies both candidates endorsed by the said voter.
Further, the said subscriber has different signatures on both candidates’ nominations raising questions as to the legitimacy of both signatures.
But Dr. Lartey who challenged the errors in his nomination insists Mrs Charlotte Osei, did not follow through the regulations very well to do the right thing with regards to the nomination process.
“I’m very sure she didn’t take time to study the forms very well because she might have presumed her officers had probably done a good job.”
He reiterated “my Lawyer has told me if by Monday we don’t hear anything, we’re going to put an injunction on the process. And I’ll have to listen to my Lawyer.”
